“Empowerment through Pride.”
CHILDHOOD
Touami (Twa-mee) Pride was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina to Hemphill P Pride II and Nathalie D. Pride. At the age of six, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. He was initially treated at Richland Memorial Hospital but medical treatment was limited. As a result, his parents sought the care of a specialist at Duke Hospital. Through a year of chemotherapy, Touami was able to overcome cancer. During his treatment, Touami received an outpour of support from his church, family and friends through prayers and motivation. Through his battle with cancer, Touami developed a strong sense of faith and appreciation for his community. This experience taught him the importance of helping a neighbor in their time of need.

Legislative Priorities.
“I am a lifelong and proud citizen of Columbia, SC, and I want to become a community advocate for my constituents, raising concerns and issues across our district. Currently, there is a growing disconnect between the government and its citizens and I want to be the bridge for that gap.”
